Johnny Cash Tribute Pageby Dr. Mellow |
Quick Facts
|
In 1994, when I originally put my tribute page up for Johnny Cash, I think it was the only Johnny Cash page on the web. Since then, of course, the Internet has exploded and Johnny Cash has an official web site like almost everyone else.
Johnny Cash's business office is known as The House of Cash and can be reached at the following address:
House of Cash
700 Johnny Cash Parkway
Hendersonville, Tennessee 37075
(615) 824-5110
In addition, Johnny Cash's record label, American Recordings, has set up a page with all sorts of information about Johnny Cash. Be forewarned that I've had their site crash my web browser almost every time I've visited, however.
I've always wanted to see Johnny in concert. I've been lucky enough to see him three times -- April 1, 1995 at The Alabama Theater in Myrtle Beach, SC, May 15, 1996 at the 930 Club in Washington, DC, and May 31, 1997 at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Thanks to Jim Crowley for the picture of Johnny Cash in concert. It was taken at a show in San Francisco in 1994. When I originally added the picture to this site, Jim had a website with lots of other great concert pictures. Unfortunately, the link is now broken and I don't know how to get in touch with Jim. If you're out there, Jim, drop a note to greg@cohoon.name and I'll put the links back up to your site.
Concert reviews and setlists are linked below. If you've seen Johnny Cash in concert and would like your review included in this list, please send e-mail to greg@cohoon.name and I will either link to your review or add it to my website.

The Man In Black is a 24-page fanzine produced four times a year (December, March, June, September) and includes tour schedules, reviews and set lists, CD and book reviews, articles, many photographs and the ocassional competition. The fanzine was started in December 1994 and is produced with the co-operation of, amongst others, The House of Cash and American Records. Peter Lewry, author of several books, including A Johnny Cash Chronicle (pictured on right) produces this wonderful fanzine.
For more information about this great publication, visit the homepage of the Johnny Cash fanzine. Subscription rates and contact information are available on Peter's website.
Since 1971 Jan Flederus has been the president of the European Johnny Cash Fanclub, with over 400 members all over the world. The Fanclub publishes 3 or 4 times a year an A4 format newsletter with pictures, news about new records, CD's, tour schedules, etc. The club has for sale: 1000 records, 300 CD's, 100 45 rpm's, VHS video's, posters, stickers, t-shirts, the most complete DISCOGRAPHY (3 parts), etc.
Two times a year they have a club meeting where they show video-films. This is also the place where you can purchase CD's, records, etc.

You can also visit them on the web: www.johnnycashfanclub.com.
You can get a lot of Johnny Cash merchandise from amazon.com. A great place to start shopping is at this list of "essential" Johnny Cash merchandise. I've teamed up with amazon.com to create a Johnny Cash Store where you can easily order Johnny Cash merchandise through amazon.com. You can also use the button on the right to pull up a quick search on "Johnny Cash" from amazon.com's site. If you're interested in a Johnny Cash poster (sorry, it's not the one from his prison concert), you can buy the one pictured on the left from AllPosters.com.
John L. Smith has compiled the JOHNNY CASH DISCOGRAPHY, Volumes 1 and 2 They are published by Greenwood Press and available now. For more information, contact John at his address:

His first album on the American Recordings label, American Recordings, is incredible. With it, Cash attempts to reach out to a generation of music lovers who have never heard of him before.
While not as good as American Recordings, Unchained is an excellent album. Cash continues his quest to reach out to a younger generation. This time, he is backed by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and even covers a Soundgarden song.
If you maintain a Johnny Cash tribute site, send e-mail to greg@cohoon.name and I will include your site in the following list.
Please send e-mail to greg@cohoon.name with any corrections or suggestions for additions and/or deletions, as I am doing my best to make this site the best tribute to Johnny Cash as I possibly can. If you enjoyed your visit to this site and would like to make a donation, please use the PayPal donate button at the bottom of the page.
